Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. to Embark on Cross-Country Road Trip
Sometimes a Road Trip for Beer means the beer comes to you.
Wisconsin-based Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company has announced that it will celebrate its 145th year with a summer-long family road trip.
With a customized Airstream trailer in tow, Leinekugel’s will cross the country to share its beer and brewery memorabilia and present beer-cheese pairings with products from Sartori Cheese Company of Wisconsin.
Fifth generation brewers and brothers Jake, John, and Dick Leinenkugel will join the tour to greet fans and talk beer.
Leinenkugel’s will feature (where allowed) samples from its year-round portfolio, including Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat, Honey Weiss, Berry Weiss, Leinie’s Red, Creamy Dark, and Classic Amber Lager. In addition, sampling will include Leinenkugel’s most popular seasonal, Summer Shandy, and the new limited-release Big Eddy Wee Heavy Scotch Ale, which launches in March.
“We’re looking forward to heading out on the road, meeting fans, celebrating our birthday, and sharing our family’s story that began in 1867 with our great-great grandfather,” said Jake Leinenkugel, president of the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company. “We’re proud to pair our award-winning beer with award-winning cheeses from Sartori and showcase the versatility and food-pairing abilities of our beer.”
The tour will kick off during spring training in Phoenix, Arizona.
In 1988, Leinenkugel came under the umbrella of Miller Brewing Co. http://leinie.com/5th_gen_history.html (Now MillerCoors in the U.S.), but fears of corporate meddling with its success never proved true. Miller kept the family management team in place, and the brewery has since expanded both in size and in its product portfolio.
