A look behind the scenes at Schlafly Beer in St. Louis

Submitted by on December 27, 2011 – 9:00 am2 Comments

Road Trips for Beer photo by Gerard WalenThe St. Louis Brewery, more commonly known as Schlafly Beer, opened 20 years ago in the home town of brewing giant Anheuser-Busch. Its ensuing success has much to do with the philosophies of co-founders Tom Schlafly and Dan Kopman, who believe in adhering to principles that include being a conscientious and good neighbor, and trying to create the best-tasting beer possible.

Road Trips for Beer editor Gerard Walen was fortunate enough to go on a press trip of St. Louis earlier this year with a small group of travel writers, hosted by the Missouri Division of Tourism, which included in its itinerary a tour and dinner at the Schlafly Tap Room. Here’s a video of the experience, in which you’ll learn more about the craft brewery’s history, its barrel-aging program, its planned sour beer offerings and more.

It’s good to see my friend Troy took care of you and my hometown was accommodating. I love Schlafly beers, they have always stepped in the right direction in regards to great beer and treating St. Louis well. It looks like you had a real nice time…

He is indeed an awesome dude, and he and the Schlafly crew took very good care of us.
