Chalk up another one for the spectacular list of beer festivals in the Atlanta area.

If you’re a fan of hefeweizen, dunkel and Marzen, the eighth annual Atlanta German Bierfest  celebrates brews from, where else, Germany.  Scheduled for Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Woodruff Park in Downtown Atlanta, your ticket will allow you access to more than 35 brews from at least 18 of Germany’s top breweries.  If German beer isn’t enough, enjoy authentic German food and music, all in a family-friendly setting.

The event is presented by the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S. , and gates open at 2 p.m.  Tickets are available online for $30 until the day of the fest and then $35 at the gate. Attendees will receive a sampling glass and have the opportunity to enjoy beer made according to the Reinheitsgebot  (German beer purity law)   until 7 p.m.  Designated drivers are admitted free – and encouraged.

A list of beers to be present has been slowly released on the festival’s Facebook page.  Whether you’re of German descent or simply enjoy the outstanding flavor of German-brewed beer, the Atlanta German Bierfest promises an afternoon of fun – lederhosen and dirndls are welcome.

And here’s what you’ve been waiting for: The festival organizers have made available a pair of tickets to give away to a reader of Road Trips for Beer.
