The inaugural Beer-Con will be a one-day celebration of all things craft beer, and it takes place August 27, 2011, on the home turf of Comic-Con – San Diego, California.

Though organizers are still putting the finishing touches on the agenda, attendees can expect presentations from such folks as Greg Koch and Dr. Bill Sysak of Stone Brewing Co.; Anat Baron, creator of the film documentary “Beer Wars”; and Patrick Rue from The Bruery.  Sessions will include “Homebrewing 101,” “Beer and Food,” and “Beer & Social Media.”

Here’s what the organizers have to say:

Beer-Con was born out of the pure love for craft beer. This is a conference by and for beer lovers!  For the first time ever the greatest minds and palates in craft beer have a platform to come together and share their passion!  Beer-Con 2011 is a one-day conference held in beautiful San Diego that will feature some of the top names in the industry speaking on a variety of topics!

Multiple speaking tracks will run simultaneously throughout the day so that you can choose the experience that is right for you.  This event is open to the public, no professional association or credentials required!  At Beer-Con you’ll get exclusive access to industry pros, get answers to the questions you’ve always wanted to ask, learn about brewing and tasting beer from the best in the business and of course join other beer lovers for a few brews at our Tap Haven where you’ll enjoy a special line-up of craft taps!

This is a drinking event so you must be 21+ to attend.  Valid ID required.

Come be a part of the craft beer movement.  Share your passion, join the discussion and tip back a few pints at Beer-Con 2011!  We will see you there.

As far as cost,  the first 100 registrants will pay $175; early bird pricing of $249 is available until July 31; and those registering after that will pay $249.

The San Diego area boasts a fantastic craft beer scene, so anyone taking a Road Trip for Beer to Beer-Con should try to schedule a few extra days for exploring.
