Image courtesy of NY BrewfestIf you’ve been thinking about taking a road trip for beer to New York City, the NY Brewfest 2010 offers a great reason to start planning now.

The festival on Saturday, June 19, offers beer lovers an opportunity to sample more than 300 craft brews from 100 New York State, East Coast, U.S. and international breweries.  The festival takes place on Governor’s Island, a historic site that served as a military base for centuries. The 172-acre island in the New York Harbor is a mere 800 yards from Lower Manhattan and even closer to Brooklyn.

The $55 ticket for the NY Brewfest 2010 includes water taxi transport to and from the island.

Sponsors are the New York State Brewers Association and Heartland Brewery.

Organizers promise great food, beer seminars, live music and other entertainment. Tickets are on sale now at www.nybrewfest.com and any of Heartland Brewery’s seven New York City locations.

Check back at Road Trips for Beer for updates, or go here for more information.
